Despite everything I've said in the past, I am extremely grateful i came to University of Warwick - all the friends i've made, the experiences I've gained etc. have been more than I could ever ask for.
That aside, at this very moment i am most grateful I came to Warwick because....
I GOT TO WATCH KINGS OF CONVENIENCE PERFORM LIVE!!!!!!!!!
Oh. my. god. they were SO awesome!!!!!!!!
Being able to actually watch them play their songs was just amazing - if you think they sound good on their CDs, you should seriously check them out live because they sound even better!! Serious! And watching their music come to live as they play their guitars right in front of my eyes was just magical...
Taxi Taxi (2 Swedish girls) opened for them. Never heard of them. Sorry girls but don't think you were my cuppa tea. When I think Sweden, it has to be Loney, Dear for me. Taxi Taxi were a bit... boring. Their first song was okayy but then their subsequent performances felt a bit repetitive and I know this is bad but I couldn't really catch what they were singing even though all their songs were in English. But maybe that's just me la.
Anyway, after half an hour of Taxi Taxi, it was finally time for the stars of the show - Kings of Convenience! :D They opened with a few songs from the new album Declaration of Dependence (which i was hoping they'd be selling but they mentioned that it would only be released on Monday. Gonna get it!) Then they threw in some old classics like Don't Know What I Can Save You From (but slightly modified so that it was more upbeat) and Know-How. I was totally singing along lol.
Sighhhhhhh.. Erlend and Eirik were so cute la... After 2 songs or so, Erlend was like "Okay, now i will say something in Norwegian to our sound engineer *speaks in Norwegian into the mic. Sound engineer replies in Norwegian and points towards the control room at the back of the hall* "Okay now I will speak in ENGLISH to the light technician. Mr. Light Technician could you lower the lights so that it is totally dark? Oh wait, no, not totally dark because then the audience wouldn't be able to see us. But the audience don't need to see each other's head." lolll... then at one point, Eirik was commenting on how the ending for one of their songs (I think it was Cayman Islands? not sure can't rmb) sounded a lot like the Postman Pat song Lollll - and he knows this coz he's been watching a lot of Postman Pat with his 2 yr old son.. Awwwwwwwwwwwww.... Then Erlend started singing the Norwegian version of Postman Pat! haha damn random.
So after the show ended (after 2 encore songs). Sighh. They were really good. I met up with a couple of friends outside the Arts Centre who were milling around outside KoC's tour bus (which btw looked so awesome because i managed to sneak a glimpse inside when i was going into the Arts Centre before the show. Damn nice wehh!! Super luxurious - got espresso machine at the side all!! TV screen also looked like a flat screen one. Chehwah i also want to have a tourbus like that next time hahaha). Quite a few ppl were milling around coz they wanted to buy KoC T-shirts. I chatted and waited around coz one of my friends wanted to buy a T-shirt and saw my old hallmate Jamie who was the one who told me bout this concert (forever grateful to jamie). Headed behind the bus where the crowd of ppl were walking towards with my friend and saw Taxi Taxi selling the T-shirts!!! haha damn funny!
Anyway, after my friend decided not to buy the Tshirt because it was a bit expensive (20pounds =__=) and the print wasn't that nice, we hung around the benches across the road in front of Costcutters. I told my friend that I felt like stalking them and that I would've if i knew that they were in Costa's at uni this afternoon lolll (coz Eirik mentioned that he had coffee there in the afternoon. I actually saw their tour bus at noon when i walked past the arts centre after seminars. Figured it was them. Coz their huge ass luxury tour bus was parked outside the Arts centre loading bay). We chit chatted and I half jokingly said that I wanted to wait around for them to come out from the arts centre. After a while, we were still milling around then my friend was like "Wait, are you SERIOUSLY waiting for them???" haha.
my view of the stage from my seat. Have Arthur to thank for my awesome balcony seats coz he bought the tickets on my behalf because he was at uni last month. Thank god i was in the balcony coz you see the group of ppl there right in front of the stage? yeah well they stood there throughout the whole show. I would've been well pissed off if i was sitting in one of the front rows. And it wouldn't have made a difference if I stood anyway coz i'm so short =_=
 Erlend and Eirik themselves!! Woohoo!!!!
I actually took a few vids of some of their songs but out of respect for them, I didn't take any of their new songs la... they requested mar so what to do.. But regret I didn't take more vids of their older songs.
Oh and I did wait for about 45 minutes till Kings of Convenience came out of the Arts Centre. And it was worth the wait...
I was grinning the whole night after I went home :)
